This course has been developed to accommodate students who have expressed an interest in completing a Digital Arts Portfolio. Through direct teacher instruction, emphasis is placed on the production of all three sections of the Digital Arts II Portfolio: Quality, Breadth, and Concentration. In the Breadth section teacher directed units of study are presented to satisfy the requirements of the breadth section of the portfolio. In the concentration section students are challenged to develop their own personal work. Through individual conferencing students are assisted in the development of their Concentration. Students will develop a portfolio of college-level drawings that show evidence of mastery in concept, composition, and execution.
In constructing the portfolio students learn how to seek out creative problems that are interesting and challenging and use goal setting, informed decision making and problem solving skills to pursue their own artistic interest in an informed way. Students are responsible for demonstrating mastery at using the elements of art to organize the principles of design in their work. All students enrolled this course must research their ideas for their independent projects and document this in the sketchbook journal. Through goal setting, students are guided in setting challenging but attainable creative goals for projects. Students utilize standards set for the class which they use to gauge their progress. These standards are based on the state course expectations.
