Arriving early in the morning, students from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) club carefully placed 1,690 uplifting Post-it notes on lockers throughout the campus. Each note carried words of encouragement, offering students a positive start to their day.
In addition to the Post-its, NAMI members distributed postcards with mental health resources and handed out bracelets to every student entering the school. This act of support has been a cherished tradition for over eight years, uniting students through small but impactful gestures.
"I remember when I first got a Post-it on my locker, and it was so special to me that I kept that note for more than a month. That made me want to join NAMI and do it for others," said the NAMI Treasurer.
The club’s efforts, under Graf’s guidance, help raise awareness for mental health and promote a sense of community and support during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. The NAMI club is also comprised of students in the school's mental health pathway which focuses on mental health education and future preparedness.
